To our Brown public health community,
It is inspiring to feel the energy and enthusiasm that fills our classrooms, hallways, and offices as we begin yet another new academic year. There is a magic that happens here at the Brown University School of Public Health when we bring together so many extraordinary, committed people focused on making the world a healthier place for all communities.
A hallmark of our great school is our ability to collaborate across disciplines and break barriers with agility and purpose to tackle the big issues facing human health. We do that by:
- recruiting a talented, diverse, and curious student body, attracting world-class faculty and researchers, and investing in public health innovation with courage and conviction;
- fostering a community that listens to a broad range of ideas respectfully and shares our own perspectives in the spirit of inquiry and understanding; and
- asking the hard questions, challenging assumptions–including our own–and delivering impact.
As we embark on our second decade as a major force driving innovative research, education, and analysis, I invite you to learn more about our plans for the coming year. I also encourage you to consider supporting our public health students and our vision of public health with a gift to the Brown Public Health Annual Fund. Together, we are building a stronger school and preparing tomorrow’s leaders to tackle the biggest challenges facing human health and health equity. There is much work to be done, and I am energized by all that we will accomplish.
Thank you for all you do for public health.
Sincerely,
Ashish K. Jha M.D., MPH
