I write with a heavy heart to share news of the passing of an esteemed colleague, Dr. James (Jim) Rudolph. This is a profound loss for our school and the broader medical community. Jim was more than a brilliant researcher and physician; he was a mentor who led with his heart and a friend to so many of us. His contributions to the fields of gerontology and public health were matched only by his unwavering dedication to the success of his peers and students.
Before he passed, we were fortunate enough to present him with a 2026 Dean’s Award for Excellence in Mentoring. This year, he was nominated many times over and the words of his colleagues reflect how beloved he was as a mentor, colleague, cheerleader and friend.
