Dear SPH Faculty and Staff,

This morning in Today@Brown, Matthew Guterl, vice president for diversity and inclusion, shared the news that Jai-Me Potter-Rutledge has been appointed as chief of staff in the University’s Office of Diversity and Inclusion, and she will begin a gradual transition from the School of Public Health starting on November 1. 

This is a great opportunity for Jai-Me, and I’m excited for her to continue her work advancing the University’s diversity and inclusion goals. It is also a reflection both of her leadership and the important role that the School of Public Health has taken within the University in advancing principles of diversity, inclusion and health equity during Jai-Me’s tenure. 

Continuing that momentum, we will soon post the position and begin a search to identify SPH’s next Assistant Dean of Diversity and Inclusion. I encourage you to share the posting with your networks to help us find our next outstanding leader.

Jai-Me will continue to provide support to the school during this transition period and, as chief of staff, will stay engaged with our Health Equity Scholars program. If you have any questions about the transition, please email DeanofPublicHealth@brown.edu or contact me directly.

Join me in congratulating Jai-Me on this exciting next step for her and the University. She will be missed here at SPH, but I know we’re all glad she will remain at Brown to continue her excellent work.
