Dear Public Health Community,
It is with a deep sense of loss that we share the news that Paul Farmer MD, Ph.D., passed today at the age of 62. A renowned physician and medical anthropologist, Paul was Kolokotrones University Professor of Global Health and Social Medicine at Harvard Medical School and co-founder of Partners in Health.
Very simply, Paul dedicated his career to improving health care for the world's poorest people. In so doing, he altered the field of global health. We were honored to have Dr. Farmer join us at the School last spring when he delivered the 2021 Barnes Lecture.
Learn more about his work and legacy, and what he thought were the most pressing priorities for the field of global health.
